Apiary OS privacy policy

Apiary OS stores the information needed to provide your beekeeping records and account. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Information we collect
- Account details, including username and email address.
- Apiary and hive records, including addresses, coordinates, tag identifiers and notes.
- Inspection records, including observations, treatments, weather snapshots and inspection times.
- Subscription status and payment-provider purchase references. Apiary OS does not store complete payment-card details.
- Technical information ordinarily recorded by web servers, such as IP address, request time and error information.
Device features and third parties
NFC tag and camera scans are used to identify hives. Camera images are processed for scanning and are not uploaded as photographs. Weather requests use apiary coordinates with Open-Meteo. When Mapbox is enabled, address searches and suggestions send the entered address to Mapbox; reverse lookups send the selected coordinates. Map requests send the area being viewed and ordinary network information, including your IP address, to the map provider. Selected address results are retained with your apiary. Maps use Mapbox and OpenStreetMap data; older versions may request tiles directly from OpenStreetMap. See Mapbox privacy information. Authentication is handled by the Apiary OS Drupal service and subscription payments are handled by Stripe.
How information is used
Information is used to authenticate you, provide and synchronise field records, enforce plan allowances, process subscriptions, provide maps and weather context, support the service, prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.
Regional insights
For a personal workspace, you decide whether its de-identified observations may contribute to regional insights. For a shared workspace, its owner or administrator makes one choice for all records in that workspace, regardless of which member records them. Members can see the current choice before and after joining. Each workspace counts as one independent contributor. Exact locations and personal details are not shown, and reporting thresholds are applied.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and field data while your account is active and as required for security, billing and legal obligations. You can permanently delete your account from Account settings in the Apiary OS app, or request account deletion without the app. Deletion removes your apiaries, hives and inspections, except for records we are legally required to retain. Stripe subscriptions are cancelled during deletion.
